I’m the author of 13 books and have been working in the industry for nearly a decade, with award nominations and a TV adaptation in development. As well as writing, I spend a lot of time mentoring writers, lecturing at film and writing academies, and visiting schools to speak about storytelling and building a creative career. I also volunteer for the Arts Emergency charity, helping teens with their writing dreams.

Telling stories through my books is one thing, but supporting writers in developing their own voices and creative confidence means the world to me!

 Mentoring for Serious Writers

Most manuscripts don’t fall short because of talent. They fall short because they’re not yet positioned structurally, commercially, or strategically, for the industry.

And most writing careers stall not because of ability, but because the writer hasn’t yet shaped a clear creative trajectory.

I work with a small number of writers each year who are serious about:

• Preparing their manuscript for submission or publication
• Querying agents
• Building a sustainable creative career
• Diversifying into other creative pathways

As the author of 13 published books, with award nominations and a current television adaptation in development, I offer high-level mentoring that combines craft, industry insight, and career strategy.

My mentoring packages are focused, professional-level development for writers ready to take themselves seriously.

A Note on Availability

Alongside mentoring and teaching, I’m still writing and working in film/televisions, so I take on only a small number of writers each year.

Mentoring is best suited to writers who:

• Are committed to pursuing publication
• Are open to rigorous, professional feedback
• Want to think strategically about their creative future

Download my info sheet, and if you’re still interested, please email the following to natalisimmonds@gmail.com:

• A brief paragraph about your project (if applicable)
• Your current stage
• What you’re hoping to achieve

If I feel we’re a strong fit, I’ll be in touch to discuss next steps.

Alongside my writing, I lecture at various film and writing institutes, including Raindance Film School, Jericho Writers, the Professional Writing Academy, and a number of UK universities and creative clubs. I work with students who are developing their craft and thinking about how to build a creative career. My sessions focus not just on storytelling, but on what it actually means to work in the industry – from resilience and self-branding, to shaping an idea right through to publication.

How to Succeed in the Arts

With the fall of creative funding and the rise of AI, a career in the arts is becoming increasingly difficult. But when you know how, you get to live the dream!

When I teach at writing and film institutes, I focus on more than just ‘how to write’. To be a success in the creative world, you need to understand what sells, how the industry works, how to build your network, and…more than anything…you need to be resilient. Some of my most popular classes include:

• Rejection, Resilience, and How To Manage Criticism
• Self-branding for Creatives
• How to Write Sex & Romance
• Self-publishing 101
• The Art of Co-Writing

Working with Schools to Inspire Students

One of my favourite things about being a writer is getting to visit schools, especially working with teenagers. As a mentor for the Arts Emergency charity, I specialise in inspiring and guiding 13-18-year-olds on their creative paths, whether that’s simply teaching creative writing as part of their English class or giving a talk about resilience at the school assembly.

I work closely with the teachers to ensure my classes and visits fit the ethos of the school, the curriculum, and any specific themes that year group are struggling with. Some of my most popular classes and talks for years 9-13 include:

• Rejection, Resilience, and How To Manage Criticism
• Descriptive Writing: Writing with the 5 Senses
• Building Fantasy Worlds
• Manga workshop
• My Journey as an Author
